18 Mar The desire to create
I believe that we all have creativity within us. It manifests in different ways and at different times in our lives.
But what is important, is that we make time in our daily routines for this creativity. For play, and experimentation. We need to make time in order to grow our own creative muscles.
.
“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.”
.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
As I write this we are in the middle of the Coronavirus containment and lock down in Ireland. To try and stay sane I have been trying to find the silver lining in this awful mess. And one good effect from this all is that I suddenly have TIME.
Time is something that I always feel I am lacking. While other things might be out of balance in our lives now. Like money and income. I am going to use this time to explore more aspects of my creative life.
.
Now that I have it, how should I spend it?
.
So now that I have all this TIME to explore my desire to create. How have I been using it.
For my students
I have been taking time to create more online arts and craft tutorials. Something that has been on my to do list for many many years. But again, something I always felt I never had the time for. This is primarily for my students, but its also for me.
Not only am I learning lots of new video editing skills but I am also getting to share my creativity.
For me this is a really IMPORTANT aspect to being creative.
.
I get more joy from sharing with others how to make something or create, than I do If I was creating in isolation. This is the essence of why I am a teacher. This love of sharing my knowledge
.
I also get real joy from learning a new skill. I see this as problem solving. When I don’t know how to do something I can teach myself. And that sense of accomplishment that you get from that is hard to beat.
So here is to silver linings, remaining positive and giving life to our desire to create!
