What will we cover in our weekly teen summer camp?
For our first week we will be creating a paper woven art journal incorporating hand stitching and block printing. The self guided project for this week will be looking at paper creation, making different types of art papers to go into your journal. This will include altering magazine and book pages, creating rubbings, coloured paste paper, book pockets and lots more.
The following week we will be focusing on printmaking, black out poetry, creative journal prompts and improving our drawing skills. We will look at a series of creative prompts to get us thinking about our environment, our community, our neighbourhoods and how we interact with them. This week is all about noticing the details and the meaning behind our artwork
Week 3 we will be practising watercolour skills, from colour blending and values through to brush skills and tone work. We will create a series of paintings over the two hours. Including how to draw a watercolour wreath, abstract watercolour flowers and our self guided projects for the week will focus in on practising these painting skills using watercolours.
Week 4 we are going to combine paint, paper and material. Making a mixed media artwork using simple embroidery stitches. This is the final class in this weekly camp and I will leave the campers with a series of creative prompts that they can use in their creative journeys going forward.
Each week as they work through their different projects they can upload them to google classroom where I can give them feedback and tips so they can keep creating from one week to the next. I will keep offering t creative advice in the google classroom for the month of August also.
